Westbury Leigh Charity Work
The school community gives generously to support the many charities the school supports. The Pupil leadership team organise fund raising for Children in Need, Red Nose Day and UNICEF Soccer Aid. Charities are chosen as many link to our vision and are focused on giving children a voice and some because our children are passionate and want to challenge injustice and make a difference to others.

Children in Need
BBC Children in Need is the BBC's corporate charity. It exists to change the lives of children and young people across the UK. This takes place in the Autumn term.
Red Nose Day
The highlight of Comic Relief is Red Nose Day which happens in the Spring. Comic Relief raises money to support people living incredibly tough lives. The money raised by Comic Relief is spent to help poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and the world's poorest communities.
UNICEF Soccer Aid
The last Soccer Aid was held in 2019. The children were divided into football teams and played against each other over lunchtimes.
Warminster Foodbank
We would like to thank the parents for their generous food donations as part of our harvest celebrations this year, these were passed onto the Warminster Foodbank who were extremely grateful for the support, especially during a time when an increasing number of families in our area are suffering from food poverty.
Kamaza LEA School in Malawi
We are developing our link with Kamaza School and have been fundraising for them. In 2020, we raised money through our multi-faith day and we had an endangered species animal trail. We are currently taking part in Bags for School to raise additional funds.
This is a pictures of Stella, 13, Catherine, 10 and Chrissy, 13 with Toni, who is the administrator. These girls are orphans living in poverty in Malawi. They had no access to education living too far from any school with no means of transport and very poor living conditions. However, because of the money we were able to send after our multi-faith day last year and the animal trail, they have now been provided accommodation in Mama Nabiyeni Girls Hostel – situated next to Kamaza LEA School, and have been bought exercise books, writing equipment and body lotion. This means that they will receive an education that they had no hope of receiving before, as well as accommodation. A couple of hundred pounds can go a long way in Malawi!
