Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination

At Westbury Leigh, we follow a restorative approach to behaviour and children are encouraged to reflect on their actions and restore the situation so that both parties are able to move forward. We believe that all pupils have the right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment without the fear of bullying or harassment. Through our Christian Values, our school community embraces individuality and celebrates those qualities that make us all unique. Below is the flowchart that children are encouraged to use to help them resolve conflicts in school.

“Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. It can happen face to face or online” Anti Bullying alliance 2022.

Harassment is aggressive pressure or intimidation; it is unwelcome behaviour that is based on discrimination against race, religion, gender, age, disability or when it is based on something personal.

Discrimination is when there is unjust or prejudicial treatment of others based on race, age, sex or disability

None of these are tolerated in our school. Any concerns should be raised with a member of senior staff. Our behaviour policy identifies what action is taken in addressing concerns of this nature to ensure they stop and in also supporting those involved to ensure there is no repeat of actions.
