Westbury Leigh Funding
The school receives an annual budget which just about covers the basic educational needs of the schools. In order to undertake a range of enriching and educational activities on top of this we ask parents to make a voluntary donation for these. We are obliged to use the term voluntary donation but the reality is that without enough financial support from parents then these events cannot go ahead. We encourage all parents to support our school with this so we can offer an inspiring and enriching learning experience for every child.

Our school is allocated a budget based on the number of children we have and their needs. Alongside this we have specific grants which we are accountable for.
Pupil Premium Grant
Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils. Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:

generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school

often do not perform as well as their peers
The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.

PE and Sport Premium Grant
All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation and is central to meeting the government’s ambitions for a world-class education system.
Physical activity has numerous benefits for children and young people’s physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and lowering anxiety and depression), and children who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers. Ensuring that pupils have access to sufficient daily activity can also have wider benefits for pupils and schools, improving behaviour as well as enhancing academic achievement.

Catch-up and Recovery Premium Grant
Schools should use this funding for specific activities to support their pupils to catch up for lost teaching over the previous months, in line with the curriculum expectations for the next academic year. While schools can use their funding in a way that suits their cohort and circumstances, they are expected to use this funding for specific activities which will help pupils catch up on missed education.
